Sweini Bearded Iris, Bearded German
Iris is the Tennessee State Flower and
this is the original heirloom variety
dating back to 1612.
Gold 'N Green Arborvitae:   Dwarf
evergreen shrub with green old growth
and bright yellow new growth.  
Red Hot Poker:  Tall spikes of orange
red flowers in early - mid summer and
semi evergreen foliage.
Lambs Ear:   Low growing perenial
forming a dense mat and blue flowers
in summer.   Semi evergreen
silver plant in bottom of photo.
Goldstrum Black Eye Susan:  Bright
golden flowers in mid - late summer,
attracts butterflies.  Fills in rapidly to
choke out any potential of weeds.  Rt

Gooch Sedum:  Semi upright growing
sedum blooms late summer with white
with small pink to green stripe in center
of petals. Attracts butterflies.
Developed from seed collected on the
UTM campus in 1996.
Tawney Daylily:   Naturlizing daylily
historic to west Tennessee.  Specific
parentage is of the variety 'Arkansas
Shanty' which was found as a
variegated mutation in Farmersville AR
in 1990.

Peach Grove Nursery Adopt-A-Site
Goldstrum Rudbeckia /  Black Eye Susan:   Durable perenial blooming
most of the summer.  Multiplies to form a dense stand reducing weeding
in the flower bed.  Seed heads are great for attracting song birds such as
Goldfinch.
Giant Ironweed:   This large growing perenial produces heads of purple
flowers in late summer-early fall.   Attracts butterflies and native to west
TN.
Wyoming Sagebrush:   This  woody form of artemesia offers silver
foliage and unique winter branch structure.  Branches are often
bundled and burned as incense by Native Americans.   Requires dry,
well drained locations.    Native to upper Rocky Mountains.
Adam's Needle Yucca:    Evergreen perenial producing towering white
flowers in early summer followed by attractive seedheads.   Native to
the southeastern portion of the United States.
Thoroughwort:   Fall blooming perenial, white blooms in fall,  attracts
butterflies.   Native to W. TN.

Shrubby St. Johns Wart.    Mid sized flowering shrub, bright yellow
flowers in early and mid summer and attractive bark in winter.   Attracts
seed eating songbirds.   Native to W. TN.
Bush Cinquefoil:   Dwarf flowering shrub with yellow flowers all summer
long.   Unique bark character on older specimans.   Native throughout
the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains.   Specific variety is 'Primrose'
Cheyenne Sky Switch Grass:   Medium sized ornamental grass with red
tinted foliage.   Airy flower heads add to the texture and dainty seed
heads provide winter interest, best when covered in frost or ice.  Species
native to TN.
Dewey Blue Switch Grass:  Larger growing ornamental grass with striking
blue foliage, same flower and seed character as above.   Species native to
TN.
Sugar Cane Plume:   Large growing ornamental grass with coarse texture
and upright feather-duster plumes opening pink fading to off white.  Native
to W. TN.
Peach Grove Nursery
Obedient Plant:    This perenial offers spikes of blue flowers throughout
summer.   Native to W. TN.
Culver's Root:    Upright growing perenial producing airy plumes of pale pink
to white flowers throughout summer.   Attracts butterflies.   Native to W TN.
